Here's three different treatments for Brian Allen Carr's new book of short stories named Vampire Conditions. I love the title because the book has nothing to do with vampires. I'm posting these to show how far a book design can go - both in terms of labor and concept. When the third and final design is approved, I will post that. Thanks to Scott McClanahan for the input. And thanks to Brian for the rare opportunity to create book covers. I love this work. 

MLKNG SCKLS hardcover

Thought it would be nice to have a pair of hardcovers that looked nice together on a shelf. I think I'll try to discount these somehow, but Lulu's prices are fixed according to the page count. $40 for the pair seems a but high. I might write some extra shorts for MLKNG SCKLS to make it worth it.

Falcons on the Floor very limited edition hard cover

So we're in the very final editing stages of Falcons on the Floor. I went ahead and started designing the limited edition hard cover that will be available through my blog. I'm not sure how many of these will be printed, but I know there won't be many. The top image shows the french flaps along with the spread. Let me know if you are interested in one. I think they will be $25 which includes shipping and some extra awesome stuff.

Adam Robinson and I collabed for a good 43 remote minutes today and pulled this sparkly gem out of our man-jay-jays. I had to take Comic Sans and a cute ("instant BJ") kitten and makes a cover design. Success? Yes. This is what success looks like. Thank you Adam for making my Friday feel like a Friday.

NAME a Vampire novel by Joseph Young - cover design

John Dermot Woods drew and designed the front cover - all I did was make it a wrap around design. But man, I think it looks great. Can't wait to read this one.

Lots of back and forth on the design for this one, but man, it was worth it. Joe praised the creative freedom and control when working with a small press and I agree; you can't beat this level of collaboration. This project will look amazing when it's done and we only have to wait a week or so.

MLKNG SCKLS hard cover?

I was kicking around the idea of making some limited edition hard covers of MLKNG SCKLS and selling them at cost - around $20. Ideally, they'd be signed by Haneen and I, but we're still waiting on her first package of SCKLS to arrive in Cairo. If I get a few people to commit to pre ordering a hard cover edition, I might go ahead with it depending on the quality Lulu can deliver. Thoughts? Comments?

Update.

I started on the guts of this project and decided to include six pages from Falcons that actually made it into the final manuscript. It'll be a little bonus for anyone interested in ordering a copy of the hard cover.
