I met with Adam Robinson over the weekend and he had some very insightful things to say about Falcons on the Floor. Collaborating with such a smart editor is fulfilling in a number of ways; not only will the finished novel be stronger, but I’ll be a stronger writer because of it. And Falcons has been a work of collaboration from day one – with other editors and interviewers, with other writers and journalists working on Middle East issues, and above all with Haneen.
After a month or so of edits, I think the novel will be good to go. There might be a new cover. We’re also adding maps of Iraq and Fallujah with a timeline to make it easier for the reader to insert themselves into the context of the work. I never thought I could get any more excited about this book, but here we are, almost four years later. Super excited.
