Falcons is a contending finalist for the James Jones First Novel Fellowship

Falcons on the Floor has been accepted out of nearly 700 submitted manuscripts for the final round of the 2009 James Jones First Novel Fellowship making it a semi-finalist.

* I have a related post about previously published poetry and short story collections here. Link.

Thank you Haneen, Lauren, Christy, Michael, Joe, and Jamie for getting me to this point.

This is a first-novel contest, though, and your bio to the right on your blog page mentions that you've already published two prior novels, which would make you ineligible as an entrant into the James Jones contest.

Chapbooks and poetry - not novels.

If you're interested, I'll mail you complementary copies of both Secondary Sound (poetry, BlazeVOX books 2008) and MLKNG SCKLS (deleted scenes from Falcons on the Floor, 2009). MLKNG SCKLS is a 60 page collection of shorts stories and vignettes -- kinda like an extended trailer in word form.

Your classy answer to the previous post makes me hope you win all the more. I entered too and no word, but best of luck to you with the contest!

Thank you. That means a lot (and made my early morning a bit brighter).
